Originally used to produce women’s gloves in the 1850’s, suede comes from the French term gants de Suede or gloves of Sweden. 

Suede is known for its unique napped finish that makes it one of the smoothest of all leathers.  Created by removing the exterior of the hide, suede is not only one of the softest leathers, but one of the most versatile as well. 

Despite being a fine leather, suede is surprisingly tough and easy to clean making it perfect for warmer weather footwear.  Best of all, its trademark texture will age nicely with wear, creating a distinct look that you can only get from a suede shoe.
